Thobela,
I see you finally got the article done :)
-and now a few years later it has been proposed for speedy deletion on the grounds that it does not have the character of an encyclopaedic article.
How do we edit the FiedlNames in infoboxes?
lokišaI am trying to develop pages for the Northern Sotho wikipeda (nso). I have not been able to translate the field names in the infobox from English to Northern Sotho (nso). In the Afrikaans case [[1]] the template for the infobox shows “Amsbekleër” and “Termynaanvang” instead of “Incumbent” and “Assumed Office” as used in the English Cyril Ramaphosa page. In the Zulu case [[2]] the template for the infobox shows "Manje" and "Isikhathi". I would like to do something similar for the nso page for [[3]] but use the Northern Sotho words and not the Afrikaans or Zulu words. I looked at Designing_infoboxes which is where I saw the difference between a variable name ( FieldNameA1 ) and a variable value (FieldParameter). However I was not able to find where the FieldNames are defined in the infoboxes. It would seem the multiple levels of transclusion (if I have used the word correctly) hide where these FieldNames are actually defined.
So this is the question: Where does wikipedia define the FieldNames for the "Infobox officeholder" templates for all the different languages? Phillip (talk) 18:31, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
- Template:Ping Languages can make templates independently with different features and implementation. I haven't examined the other languages but "Incumbent" and many other field names are defined with numbered labels in nso:Template:Infobox officeholder/office, e.g.
label29 = Incumbent
. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)- Thank you very much. The problem was finding the "/ office" in "nso : Template : Infobox officeholder / office "
- Is there a list or an index somewhere which describes all these subpages or suffixes?

- Template:Ping If you edit a whole page or preview a page then the bottom of the window has an automatically generated list "Templates used on this page" or "Templates used in this preview". You may have to click a small triangle to see the list. Subtemplates like nso:Template:Infobox officeholder/office are included. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:36, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you once again for this. I seem to have got most of the field labels translated in the Northern Sotho version of the Cyril Ramaphosa page [[4]] .
- However a small problem remains with the field labels in the Personal details section of the infobox / sidepanel / template. It would seem that this information has been embedded or transcluded from/in some other template or module. Do you perhaps know how I should go about searching for these field labels? I did edit "https://nso.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_person" but it would seem that this is not the template that is being used for the transclusion.

Hi. It seems that you created this page. Can you please tell me what it is about so that I can link it to the corresponding Wikidata item? Thank you. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh (talk) 18:31, 8 Phupu 2022 (SAST)
- Hi, It is a list of links to pages on the internet that contain articles written in Sepedi. It was created many years ago when the NSO wikipedia was being started. Some of the links are broken and it needs a good edit to make it more useful and understandable.
- Would you be able to help with the references to the nso Cyril Ramaphosa article? There seem to be a number of problems with them which are generating Lua errors.

Translation request
lokišaHi. Could you please translate this to Northern Sotho?
Lingua Franca Nova (“Elefen”) is a language designed to be particularly simple, consistent, and easy to learn for international communications. It has a number of positive qualities:
- 1. It has a limited number of phonemes. It sounds similar to Italian or Spanish.
- 2. It is phonetically spelled. No child should have to spend years learning irregularities.
- 3. It has a completely regular grammar, similar to the world’s creoles.
- 4. It has a limited and completely regular set of productive affixes for routine word derivation.
- 5. It has well-defined rules for word order, in keeping with many major languages.
- 6. Its vocabulary is strongly rooted in modern Romance languages. These languages are themselves widespread and influential, plus they have contributed the major part of English vocabulary
- 7. It is designed to be naturally accepting of Latin and Greek technical neologisms, the de facto “world standard”.
- 8. It is designed to seem relatively “natural” to those who are familiar with Romance languages, without being any more difficult for others to learn.
- We hope you like Elefen!
Thanks for your help. --Caro de Segeda (talk) 13:08, 30 Mopitlo 2023 (SAST)
